ECONOMIC ACTIVITY PROTOCOL
The Rupununi Development Company aims to maximize the opportunities for increasing income generation through the optimisation of its assets, services and space and facilities.
The RDC is committed to diversifying its income stream. A coordinated strategic approach to activities is essential to support the Company’s’ objective to increase and monitor the income generated by the various activities.
A photograph and filming protocol has been developed to promote a single comprehensive
approach to photography and filming at any area under the responsibility of the Rupununi Development Company Ltd. and the implementation of a financial strategy with the introduction of pricing.
PROTOCOL FOR TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS AND/OR FILMING AT RDC – DADANAWA

Permission is required for taking photographs and filming in the area of the Dadanawa Ranch and any areas under the responsibility of The Rupununi Development Company Ltd.
Protocol
- Requests for taking photographs and/or filming at the Dadanawa Ranch and areas under control of the RDC should be submitted at least 20 days prior to the planned start of photographing and/or filming. Applicants must submit the attached application form to The Rupununi Development Company, Lot 1-4 Avenue of the Republic (Hand in Hand Building), Georgetown, Guyana, South America; or by e-mail to rupununi@hihgy.com
- Permission – The Board issues permission for filming and/or taking photographs subject to the applicant first acquiring the national permit for filming from the relevant authority. Permissions by the RDC are issued for a certain period and are effective only within this time. A permission may also be cancelled and photographing and/or filming stopped if the requestor does not abide by terms and conditions set out in the obtained permission.
Permissions are sent to the requestor by registered mail or are handled at the Georgetown Office (address provided above). The requestor is asked to sign the receipt of the permission and thereby accepts the terms and conditions set out in the permission.
- Terms and conditions: under the condition that the natural original condition is not jeopardised in any way and that no natural process is interfered with. Terms and conditions regulated in the permissions are the following:
- It is permitted to travel through the Ranch only in the company of a RDC Guide.
- At the time of taking photographs and/or filming, the as-is natural condition must be kept. The boundaries must not be crossed to where the RDC does not have control and the filming permit does not apply.
- It is forbidden to pick plants, disturb animals or damage turf or other rocks.
- Remotely controlled aircraft for filming from the air are banned.
- Permissions are issued for a certain period of time.
Apart from the above-stated terms and conditions, the requestor must abide by all rules and regulations of the RDC. A detailed brief of the terms and conditions in addition to these are listed below.

Filming rates are applied at the sole discretion of the RDC and will be based on the information provided in the filming application form.
NOTES
- A full breakdown of rates and charges will be agreed upon in writing and must be paid in full before commencement of the shoot.
- The Rupununi development Company reserves the right to refuse any filming requests that contravene the RDC’s Regulations or that are contrary to the Mission of the RDC.
- The above prices do not include Accommodation, meals, and transportation.
Filming cost is charged based on a quotation (pro-forma invoice) and a Photographing and/or Filming Plan as set out in the permission.
- Denial of a request – The Rupununi Development Company reserves the right to deny a request for taking photographs/filming. Any denials will be sent to the requestors in writing. Possible reasons a request may be denied are:
- Failure to acquire the national permit to film from the Environmental Protection Agency and where applicable the Guyana Tourism Authority.
- Activities and methods of filming and/or taking photographs may endanger certain areas of the natural landscape, or interfere with the natural processes;
- Filming of video advertisements
- The purpose of filming/taking photographs is not in line with the Company’s’ policies or not appropriate; for example filming of videos or films or taking photographs for the promotion of hunting equipment, videos with explicit sexual contents etc.) Such purposes can damage the reputation of the Company or mislead the viewers with respect to the primary function and importance of the RDC.
- In cases when the Ranch would not be able to accommodate the activity due to other indispensible activities.
- In cases when a request is not submitted on time.
